Group Your Readers
Having a good understanding of your audience is essential to those who wish to become (or remain) well-known bloggers. The more you know about your readers, the more you will know about what content to provide, which social groups to target, and what advertisements to display, among many other things.
One way a blogger could go about getting to know those reading his or her blog is by placing them into groups based on interests, age, gender, etc. By doing so, the blogger can detect trends and make important decisions based on them.
For example, most of those who read this blog are fairly new to blogging. Now that I have established a prominent group, I can make decisions based on this information about what I should be writing (either appealing to the large group or reaching out to smaller ones), how I should be advertising this blog or branding myself, or even which communities I should participate in. There is a lot of knowledge to be gained through you, the readers.
Get my drift?
Now here are a few questions to ponder:
- What can you say about your readers?
- How can you appeal to your larger groups?
- Now what about the smaller?
- How will this affect the audience overall?
