6 Benefits of Guest Blogging
Many bloggers overlook the value of writing for others. Some have the 'I can barely keep up with my own blogs, why do more?' mentality, while others think it's just plain overrated.
The truth is, guest blogging comes with a lot of long-term benefits, some of which come into play the very moment you start writing. And some of these benefits will stick with you for as long as you continue to blog.
What are these benefits?
Experience
I personally think this is the best of the benefits I'm going to cover here. By writing guest posts for another blog, you are not only getting some valuable writing practice, but you are also exposing your writing to a new audience and getting their feedback. Use that feedback as a way to develop your writing style and make a note of what does and does not appeal to the readers you are writing for.
SEO
Guest articles are helpful in improving your organic search rankings. Most host bloggers will include a link back to the guest's blog(s); usually a content-based link, the best kind. And if you're writing for a blog relevant to your own, that link will have more value than if you were writing for a blog in a completely different niche.
Audience
By writing for another blog, you have been given the opportunity to reach out to a new audience; people whom you otherwise would not have reached through your blog alone. These loyal readers could potentially be fans of yours too, so show them what you've got to offer.
Traffic
Guest blogging is also a good way to get lots of targeted visitors to your site. Targeted visitors are more likely to subscribe to your feed, bookmark your website, and maybe even share your link with their friends. Of course, the amount of traffic you get depends on the value of your article and the host blog's traffic, but every little bit counts. It only takes one person to stumble your article in order to bring in even more visitors. For those of you who choose to monetize your blogs, this is a great opportunity to pull in some extra cash.
Networking
I'll be blunt- bloggers love it when others help them out. (Who doesn't?) Not only are you giving another blogger free, quality content, you are also giving him or her a little break from writing. Many will accept an offer like this with open arms (given that the content is of great value), and this is a good way to deepen your relationship with that blogger, whether it be a friendship or business relationship, or both.
Branding
Everything you do on and away from your website builds (or breaks) your brand, so why not improve it by writing quality articles for other websites? The more people see and recognize you on other websites, the more well known you will become within your niche. If they see you everywhere, they're bound to visit your blog to see what else you have to offer. Frequent exposure to new audiences will help you build your brand quickly.
So there you have it- six quick and easy benefits of guest blogging. Can you think of more?
