A Quick Route to Blogging Success?

You've heard the stories- Johnny made it big by having his article published on the front page of Digg, Sue found success with her huge social media network, and many others like these. You may even have read their blogs and noticed that your own is just as "good" as theirs, and believe that you deserve to be a "blog celebrity" just like them.

And you could be right- you may have a high quality blog that deserves recognition. But that doesn't necessarily mean you're going to blog yourself to riches any time soon.

The truth is there is no quick and easy road to blogging success.

You must develop a routine and be consistent in the quality of what you write. You must be focused and driven. You must set goals and work hard to reach them. And most of all, you must invest time.

You cannot write for a week, or even a month for that matter, and expect to have a loyal following that will read everything you write and tell their friends about it. You can't write a few quality articles that will throw money into your pocket right away.

It takes years to do this.

Don't believe me?

Ask Bob.
Ask Abhi.
And if you must, you can even ask Darren, the Problogger himself. (Read this article!)

They will all tell you the same thing- success only comes with time and hard work. I cannot stress this point enough.

I love this - not so much because it points out to all of us bloggers what you need to do to be a successful blogger and define that success any way you want - but what it does do is tell everyone there is no SECRET. You cannot just sit back and wish and want and hope and dream and expect it to happen because of some Secret that attracts this stuff to you. Yes - You need to dream and desire, but then you need a plan and goals and an ultimate purpose. You need to work at what it is you want to achieve everyday. You need to write and rewrite and tweak your plan all the time and take those setbacks and keep on going until you are the best damn "insert your dream here" that you could be and that there is anywhere!

P.S. Great great great post!

Great post! I just started blogging (which is why I check your blog so often) and it'd definitely be nice to have instant recognition.

It's so true, Raiv. It's like anything else in life: work hard at something and it will eventually pay off.

The statistical odds of someone winning the lottery are, in mathematical terms, "so small as to be insignificant." Does someone win? Nearly every week. But will it be you? Nope. I can say that with confidence because of those small odds.

Are the quick blogging success odds any better? I don't think so.
