Do You Remember Your First Post?
Do you remember your very first blog post?
I remember mine quite well.
Back in the day (it feels odd to say that!) when creating a "homepage" on Geocities was still the cool thing to do, I created my first blog on LiveJournal, not knowing a single thing about html or LJ design, or even "online journaling" for that matter. (The word "blog" hadn't been invented yet.) But I, one who religiously wrote in a personal diary every day, was intrigued with the idea of creating a journal that people from other parts of the world would read.
I was actually discouraged from using the internet for non-educational purposes by my overbearing stepfather of the time, and my mother followed suit. They just didn't understand the new technology and why someone would do such a thing. But being the angst-ridden teenager I was, I went ahead and created that journal and poured my soul out to the world through poetry and my desire to one day become a professional musician.
My first post wasn't that great. In fact, it was terrible. It was one of those "Hi world, I have no idea what to write" sort of things. I can't help but laugh at myself when I look back on it. (I wish I hadn't deleted that journal now, so I could show you how bad it was.)
That first post was the birth of my online presence, and it opened up a lot of new doors for me. It led to many, many more posts, which weren't that great in the beginning, but later showed depth and personality as I grew as a writer. I fell in love with blogging with that first post, and this gave me a reason to learn as much as I can, and join communities, and to build friendships with other bloggers. And most importantly, all this helped me to grow as a person. I guess I could say that blogging helped me figure out who I was at the time I needed to know the most.
Do you remember your first post? (Sorry for the rhyme!)

My first post was not long ago, just August of last year. A two paragraph review of a book about the supreme court. Short but not embarrassing.

Many people remember Geocities, but does anybody remember Angelfire? At all? :D

@clark ~ You've come quite a way since then. It's kind of funny how big a difference one year can make.
@pelf ~ *raises hand* I do! Very well, actually.. cluttered homepages, tons of animated graphics, the Angelfire bandwidth exceeded message..
Thanks for dropping by, guys.

hah, I remember mine as well. In 1999 I made one on geocities, not even using any type of platform. My blog posts were very similar to yours, good thing they still aren't!
