Earlier this week, I asked you "If you could go back in time to when you first started blogging and chat with the younger, less experienced you, what would you tell yourself?" and you shared some great answers.
As promised, here's mine:
Don't take it too seriously- know your limits.
Relax, don't overdo it. If you're not careful, you're going to burn out. Set a pace that is right for you, and try to stick to it.
You don't have to know everything from the start.
Stop reading what everyone else has to say and just do it already! Yes, it's good to learn, but if you're not putting that knowledge to use, what good is it to you? The best way to learn is through experience, anyway. So stop doubting yourself and put your ideas into action.
It doesn't have to be perfect.
A blog is a place for conversation and sharing ideas, not something that determines exactly who you are. So what if you make a mistake here and there? It's not the end of the world. While 'the perfect post' is something to aspire to, it's not something worth being hard on yourself for. Just do your best, proofread your work, and click 'publish'.
Don't become a stats addict.
I know it's tempting.. oh, so very tempting. But resist! Once you fall victim to stats addiction, it's very hard to break the habit. And besides, you're bound to be disappointed. Focus on your blogging, not your 'worth'.
